Man, you and I both know Russia is not there to kill Nazis. Yeah there are Nazis in Ukraine but this is not a materialist understanding of the conflict and you know it. Ukrainian Nazis did not pose an existential threat to Russia. Russia attacked Ukraine because it saw NATO expansion in the region as a threat. It labeled this as a redline numerous times. The Nazi thing is convenient but liberals don’t even like fighting nazis. You aren’t going to convince anyone of anything like this. Why agitate in this way? What is the point?

I see your posts often and they have always perplexed me. Why use RT as a source on this conflict? Yeah it shows the other side of the war but just like western news on this issue it too is an arm of propaganda. I just can’t see you changing any minds or naturally fostering a materialist understanding in this manner

Reality is more nuanced than the way you are presenting it. Yes, NATO expansion is the existential threat that justifies Russia’s mobilization, both in 2014 and in 2022.

However, the state sanctioned neo-nazi mass murder of ethnic Russians in the Donbass and the subsequent calls for help and referendums are critical components because of the UN charter. There is legal cover for the invasion due to that situation and it’s is a very important part of the complex of actions.

It’s also critical to fight against empire on multiple fronts, and one of those is on the propaganda front. Maintaining the constant reminder of the violence of the state sanctioned neo-Nazis is a critical component in countering imperial propaganda.

Don’t try to reduce things down to a single cause. That’s not dialectical. It’s what we call “vulgar materialism”.

Yes I know its more complex I just didn’t have the desire to elaborate on that point, I was drunk and more focused on what I saw as terrible agitprop. I saw NATO expansion as a primary cause. The existence of Nazis and the crimes they commit are reprehensible but I don’t think Russia actually cares about the victims. It is primarily a useful tool of legal and public legitimacy.

Why is it your belief that Russia doesn’t care about the victims? Do you believe Russia is driven without any sense of humanity and empathy?

Besides, as far as we know, nation-states don’t have the mechanisms for emotions. It’s the people in the nation-states that have them. I assure you that many people in Russia have empathy for the victims of the neo-nazis in Ukraine.

No, Russia’s state actions are not primarily driven by empathy but not a single nation-state has ever met that standard, so why is that the lens you are using here?

The fact that the neo-nazi angle is useful in the legal and legitimacy spaces is sufficient for it to be a valid position.

They aren’t trying to do either, they want to rage bait people into debating them so they can le epically SMASH them with facts and logic.

You can have multiple reasons. NATO = Nazi Adolf Terrorist Obersturmfuhrer, a nazi regime supporting the expansion of a nazi organization. End result is the same, dead nazis

You really think people will buy this nonsense? You can make any acronym mean anything.

Focus on the nazis and authoritarians in your own damn country.

The Nazis in the US were here before WW2. After WW2, the US grabbed a bunch of German Nazis, in collaboration with the Vatican, and saved their lives by distributing them all over the world, including many in the US, giving them new identities, jobs in industry and government, and generally protecting them from justice while integrating them into the empire.

But NATO? When NATO was formed it was staffed top to bottom with Nazi officers. Just look up all the generals in early NATO and look at their positions before NATO. NATO was run by Nazis at the request of the US. And then they planned, approved, and executed Operation Gladio wherein NATO connected with every single Nazi collaborator group in Europe that helped the Third Reich and organized them, trained them, armed them, and helped them avoid detection.

MAGA and the tankie dipshits spamming Lemmy are both powered by Russian propaganda. Really low-effort Russian propaganda.

Calling out Western Imperialism is fair game, but I find it hard to believe that the Ukranian “Occupying Nazi Regime” is of any power or relevance when their openly Jewish president A.) won the election with 73% of the vote and B.) remains alive and well despite a neighboring superpower country actively trying to kill him for over 3 years

You think somehow being Jewish means you’re not a Nazi? You should really read history.

True both. Idolizing the “denazification” by OP is just not logical. I think a couple of years after the “three day op” this excuses has worn out already.

OP is just another Russian peasant trying to make a bucket or two.

This isn’t an “evil commie” meme, dude. 1 : Russian isn’t communist. 2 : This is just poorly thought out political commentary 3 : Communism isn’t evil, capitalism sucks, and so do your memes.
