    I’d like to think the consumer choice sentiment will stick around even if the price incentives to buy elsewhere do not. There are many, many reasons why people might find it morally inappropriate to pour money into the US economy.

      I’d like to think that is part of Carney’s calculation in this. If most of us aren’t buying American stuff anyway, removing the tariff as a bargaining chip doesn’t really change much in practical terms, but it’s something that can be used to ask for something else in return
