Hey so I legitimately own C&C remastered. I cannot find my huge dvd case game and got the repack instead.
I install it on steam using setup.exe and forcing proton 9.something.
I get it to install, it crashes due to some dependency issue. I hope to solve that issue but my main concern is where does it install, why can’t I just see it in the list of games in my library? All I see is the setup.exe in the list.
Disclaimer. New to everything mentioned here, linux, steam, repacks pc gaming. The works.
Isn’t that a question for Steam support/forums?
I actually meamt to click linux gaming
First, you should learn about Wine prefixes. Arch Wiki has a good write-up about it.
After the game is installed, you need to edit that
setup.exeyou added as a non-Steam game and point it to the game’s actual executable.Steam’s Wine prefixes are usually located in
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata. This directory should have some text config files that you can read to find out what ID Steam has assigned to it.Also, you might have more luck with Bottles (available through
flatpak) which is more suited for such tasks.I usually use plain wine for installers and then play with proton
I really dont mean to be a pain…but could you walk me through this?
I don’t suppose the lutris install script for this game helps at all?
https://lutris.net/games/command-conquer-remastered-collection/
…does this just install it for me? I’m not understanding what to do here.
I had used lutris initally but steam became my go to for whatver reason.
I would try to get the repack set up via the lutris client using the appropriate method for the installation media you have. Do you know if it’s the steam or origin version?
