The last one about friendships not meant to last is one of the hardest lessons to learn.

My wife had one friend who fell into drugs and ultimately even after she hit rock bottom and went clean my wife largely doesn’t interact with her any more. She’s said she feels like she’s matured far more than this friend was ever willing to.

I became friends with a guy who was my only friend who shared my interest in homelabbing. I later learned the skeletons he was hiding in his closet and broke contact entirely (and revoked SSH keys and the like)

damn, if I had a friend who shared ssh keys with me, I’d know not to screw that up, because I have a home server, and I somewhat wish I had someone I could share my keys with, ngl.

I had a friend who was very mildly homophobic, but used homophobic slurs and insults regularly just as insults. My best friend (and roommate at the time) is gay. I wasn’t going to let my best friend feel less than for no good reason. So, I told the friend he needed to cut it out or our friendship was done. He didn’t have a lot of friends. So, I knew it was impactful to lose me, but lose me he did because he wouldn’t stop.
