The Liberal government will table a bill this fall introducing stricter bail conditions and sentencing for some crimes, particularly those involving organized crime, human trafficking, home invasion and car theft, Justice Minister Sean Fraser said in an interview.
I was all ready to condemn the gov’t for its failure to recognize the social determinants of crime, then at the end of the article they did acknowledge it.

The specific promises are for more prisons, “tougher” sentences, and more incarceration of people not yet found guilty. Perhaps that bit at the end will prove to be more than just pretty words, but this government hasn’t earned that much trust so far.
