Ya, a lot of people don’t realize there’s this global coordinated effort and Harper is helping lead it.
I didn’t know he was still leading it, but at the time years ago I did.

It almost seems inevitable when you look at the merging of the conservatives and the reform party.
By bringing them together they created this party that wanted to be more right than it was as a whole.
Then with what’s also going on in the US they keep pushing more and more right, more and more crazy.
That then opens a gap for the more centrist party the liberals to come in and fill that void while still championing some center and left things.
And it just goes on and on further fueled by what’s happening in the south.
Then you get MPs crossing the floor like what happened a few weeks ago, and that further brings them to the center right, or just outright right.

Doesn’t mean she won’t try to make up something bullshit in an attempt to ram it through. It’d fail sure, but I’m pretty sure she’ll somehow try.

Watch her find some way to say Albertans have a human right to be able to choose their destiny protected by the charter regardless of any teaties and try to invoke the NWS again.

I remember when HDMI came out and then DP.
I wish I knew what was actually going on at the time with regards to licensing, I just knew they both worked and didn’t really pay much attention to things. Sometimes I’d use DP sometimes HDMI.
If I’d known, I definitely would have made a more concerted effort to support DP when it could have made a bigger difference.

That’s definitely a UK/EU thing then. If you get a $5000 cellphone bill in NA because someone did long distance fraud and you have pre authorized debits set up, $5000 is coming out of your account in Canada and USA.
Edit: assuming you have 5k and or have overdraft on the account. Not sure what happens if you have less than 5k and no overdraft. Like I don’t know if it’d take you to $0, or fail and charge you a insufficient fund fee.

These services usually have the ability to debit whatever your bill is, and then suddenly their system fucks up, or you get hacked and someone commits fraud, and before you know it a $5000 payment comes out of your account instead of the expected $30.00.
It’s better to have that set up on a credit card in case something happens and you get a much better chance to dispute it.

You’re D:\ has been deleted. I’m very sorry.

In this context it’s just about bypassing restrictions like age checks.

Well… lol. You could make it hey kids learn how to access things in other countries that needs a VPN, and maybe they’d be smart enough to connect the dots, but ya that’s no longer as effective heh.

Not to be that guy, but teaching high school students to just plug a random flash drive into their PC probably isn’t the best security practice to be imparting…
Maybe a booth teaching them?

Bring scissors. Oops, the tear got bigger!

The same principal has been tried with crypto mining to reduce waste / cost.
Capture the heat and use it elsewhere like to heat the building.
Downside for heating buildings though is unless you’re doing it somewhere where it’s always cold, you eventually still end up with heat you can’t use, and at that scale, there’s better heating choices. I heard the city of vancouver was looking into heating a swimming pool with it, at least that would have a constant use.
Then you still end up with the issue of the mining cards only being good for 2-3 years before the tech improves and they aren’t mining efficiently anymore, which then just leads to more e-waste.
But imagine if the cards themselves had a really long useful life or were super cheap and easily recyclable, we could put miners in things like space / baseboard heaters which were already going to be doing resistive heating and then gain something from that instead of just heat.
Imagine doing something like having a GPU based baseboard heater that folds proteins whenever it’s on, where it doesn’t become completely obsolete in a couple years. If the chips were cheap enough it’d be way better than just doing heat.
Edit: Taking the idea further… imagine if governments mandated reuse of the heat generated by data centers instead of piping it outside? You want to build a data center here? Build a public pool and heat the building / water with your excess heat. Then that commercial zone also gets a fitness center for anyone nearby.

The article says only 10k of it is contingent on someone being arrested and convicted.

The son was in jail at the time.

Friends at uni handled that problem by disallowing landscape view instead of handling it hahah
😭
Such a tragic and common ‘solution’ because it doesn’t actually solve it, it just delays it until someones minimizes the app for 30 minutes and re opens it, or one of the many many other ways that also trigger it.
I’ve had some apps that I do lock to portrait, but I would disable that flag on debug builds, since rotating the phone was the easiest way to test for some of those bugs. I didn’t worry about a good looking UI since it’d be locked in portrait, I just used it to test for bugs.

Pretty sure there was one over 100k file at one of my old workplaces. It kept growing and growing and was the most critical file in the business. Like if that file suddenly vanished, the business would be done or shut down for at least a year, maybe two kinda thing. Re-certifying the output of that file would probably take 6 months alone.
It had a partner file, also very important, but not as, which was much smaller around 20k-25k

For anyone who knows and understands Android development, process death, and saved state…
The previous dev had no understanding of any of it, and had null checks with returns or bypassing important logic littered all over the app, everywhere.
I could only assume he didn’t understand how all these things were randomly null or why it was crashing all the time so he thought oh, i’ll just put a check in.
Well, you minimize that app for a little bit, reopen it, and every screen was fucked visually and unusable, or would outright crash. It was everywhere. This was before Google introduced things like view models which helped but even then for awhile weren’t a full solution to the problem.
It was many many months of just resolving these problems and rewriting it the correct way to not have these problems.
Give it another decade or two like this and it’ll cement the shift.
In BC the libs were the cons. The cons were the whackos. The ndp were the libs.
After the libs fell apart and joined the cons, were left with whackos and libs. No real NDP left like at the fed level.
