Vote, everyone!

I think it’s more likely to be about the USA’s strategic control of the Arctic as the ice melts and ships can operate more easily. Right now it’s bordered by Russia, Scandinavia, Greenland, Canada and a little bit of the USA. Trump wants all of the Canadian and Greenland coastline to be the USA’s, so Russia and the USA can effectively control the Arctic Ocean and its shipping routes, and threaten Europe from the north. This is something that’s so simple even Trump would think of it when looking at a globe.

Other factors include resources, including fresh water, and Trump’s ego and inability to relate to others except through more or less lame attempts at dominance and bullying. Also that Trudeau out-handshook him a couple of times.

The main thing we need is for people who don’t want Conservatives to actually get out and vote. There’s more potential in the swing from nonvoter to voter than in the swing between Conservative and other parties.

I just hope it’s not people inspired by Poilievre’s promise that he can do for Canada what Trump is doing for the USA.

Even as a white man, I’ll be happier living in a society where everyone else doesn’t have to suffer.

Fascism is unfortunately contagious, and remarkably few seem immune.

Worth the price to keep him out of power. He’d send Canada down the route the US is going down.

Election day is April 28th, in case anyone reads this and is confused.

Ironically, one of the the biggest real dangers to Canada is conservatives.

I’m Canadian and have lived here for more than 20 years. Poilievre is threatening to deport people like me for criticising Israel, and threatening to strip rights from my LGBTQ+ friends and family. We are all Canadian, and pleased to be Canadian, yet this man threatens to turn the state against us just as Trump is doing in the USA. Everyone needs to get out and vote to keep him away from power, or it could very well be the end of democratic Canada as we know it, and a personal disaster for many Canadian families.

Conservatives just went up again in the polls. People need to get out and vote. Canada’s at a crossroads where it can either be a beacon of good government, human rights, respect for science, environmental responsibility, and acknowledgment of past injustices, or it can become a fascist anti-science, history-denying environmental wasteland where people have their rights stripped and are disappeared for their political views, as in the USA. We have to make the right choice while it is still possible for us to do so.

Poilievre went up in the polls again too. Seems a good number of Canadians look at what’s happening in the USA and want that here. Either that or a good number of Canadians are just as ignorant about what they’re voting for as many MAGA people were in the USA.

As an immigrant Canadian whose whole life has been here for 20 years, I don’t intend to stop objecting to Israel’s genocide just because fascist PP has no ideas except “copy the Nazis down south”.

Trump was in the usual kind of range for winning presidential candidates’ percentage of the popular vote across the USA. By that measure he’s just as popular as many other presidents. I don’t know how he compares state by state to previous presidents.

Canadians have always traveled to the USA to to a bit of sneaky bargain hunting. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this start going the other way.

Pierre Poilievre, fighting hard to prove he is the most pro-genocide candidate.

If they still want him as leader they’ll just arrange for him to have a seat in some safer riding.
