It’s the taste of childhood, really. I still get cravings for the worst fake cheese on the whitest of bleached bread.
Canadian, sysadmin, trans rights are human rights, puncha-the-nazis, cats are pretty great, GNU Terry Pratchett.

The US can absolutely survive without trade. They’ll be comparatively poor and not have much “soft” power, but they have more than enough resources in their borders to feed and arm themselves. Inefficiently.

Can confirm. Their builds were pretty bad.

There’s sorry (regret) and sorry (it’s too bad) and sorry (this discussion is over) and sorry (I am about to do something that one of us will regret)…
It looks like a sliding cabinet door. Might be doable without breaking a glass pane…
They were talking about vaccine development, not distribution:)
Mulroney, Thatcher, and Reagan were all cut from the same cloth.

Nebula is pretty great.

How exactly? His riding was in Ontario, wasn’t it?

I like that the image shows 5/10/15%. I haven’t seen THAT since the early 2000s. More commonly, starting 15/20/25 or 15/18/20, these days.
Absolutely infuriating.

I refuse to tip in any situation where someone just makes something and hands it to me. Bare minimum, at least take my order at the table, and deliver it to my table. That gets you 10%.

At least some of them may be waiting for a flight!

Former career Air Canada lawyer sides with Air Canada.

Stuck in Halifax, had a Saturday flight. Sigh.
Pay yer fuckin’ flight attendants! Like goddammit they’re working on poverty wages at entry level.

Personally I never shut up about it!

I’m pretty confident the Vancouver-Hope corridor could support commuter rail as well. Maybe Victoria to Nanaimo.

IMO, another worthy project would be preparing for an insurgency in the event of a US invasion. We could establish caches of weapons, food, etc all over the country for use by rebel forces. Boltholes in caves. Train Army personnel in insurgency tactics. Build up distributed drone manufacturing.

There’s a lot of pretty important Canadian military projects that could use the extra infusion of cash. Mostly related to the Navy and Coast Guard. We could re-onshore ship-building in Halifax and Vancouver and expand coastal patrols. We need much better icebreakers.
9 billion could be committed quite fast in a pinch, IMO.
Having us as one state - jamming Quebec, BC, Ontario, etc all together would be a recipe for disaster above and beyond all the other disasters involved. It would be like, I don’t know, merging New York and Georgia into one state.
The FLQ alone would instantly revive and start up their bombing campaigns again.
And be real, they would never give us status as states. We’d be Puerto Rico North at best until the violence died down in a century of terrorism and genocide.
Technically…
