I’m not sure where I got this idea, but I thought it was because Display Port doesn’t carry audio, and a single-cable solution was more appealing.
But apparently Display Port also supports audio, just none of my devices seem to recognize it…?
Apparently the only advantage of HDMI is ARC (Audio Return Channel), allowing devices to send audio back to the video source, which might be useful in some home theater setups.

Awesome! I’ve been waiting for this. I recently switched email providers and was really disappointed Thundermail wasn’t ready.
I suspect its lead will only widen since Mario Kart World will intercept most new purchases for that franchise, and we certainly won’t see another Red Dead Redemption for a LONG time.
As for the “Sound Connect App” that’s unfortunately the core of the problem. That app doesn’t exist for Linux. If the hardware relies on that app to set up or manage profiles, it creates an unavoidable roadblock for desktop Linux users.
The app runs on your phone (Android or iOS), and then you use the phone to manage Bluetooth connections for the earbuds. IMO you shouldn’t need a second device, but I guess they just assume 99% of people are connecting to a smartphone.
It just seems to be a non-standard implementation from Sony that doesn’t play well with the standard Linux audio stack.
I think the issue is that the actual Bluetooth connection is obfuscated behind a proprietary connection to the app, and the app exposes the protocol.
I agree it’s a stupid implementation, prioritizing a UI for pairing over literally everything else, but you still might be able to get it to work. I’ve successfully paired my WF-1000XM4 earbuds with my EndeavourOS (KDE) desktop.
Drivers (other than your Bluetooth chipset) generally shouldn’t matter. AFAIK Bluetooth audio device protocol is generic.
How are you pairing the headphones? Are you adding your PC as a device using the Sound Connect App? I have different SONY earbuds, but they can pair with 2 different devices and switch between them with the app. Perhaps they still have another device (like a phone) selected for output?
It is just me or is this is a weird thing to make?
I hope they at least make it a DLC to the Master Chief collection which did a good job of consolidating the series. I suspect this will be standalone and be confusing when people try to “Buy Halo 1”.

IDK, it kinda makes sense. You buy it once and you can play either the original or the remaster. At least they kept the original around.
There’s no excuse for this crap. Even if they insist on scraping every FOSS repo, there needs to be some logic to it (caches, diffs, longer intervals). These AI scrapers are so poorly thought out they are indistinguishable from DOS attacks.
Instead of 3 full paragraphs of stuff everybody already knows, why not start by explaining why you think Ladybird and Omarchy are”run by fascists”?

That’s… a strange choice. They must have only tested it on Steam Deck hardware… as if Desktop Linux users aren’t seasoned and running on “unsupported” hardware, lol.
If you’ve never tried GitHub alternatives, you’ll be surprised by how good they are (I definitely was). Many of them match the feature set of GitHub and some even surpass it.
Intuitively it always seemed like there was a sweet spot. Too short a period and there’s not enough time to build hype or (more importantly) fix the issues revealed by Early Access. Too long a period and people forget about your game, and EA players got everything they wanted out of it before launch, so have little reason to come back and boost visibility w/ player numbers.
It’s nice to have some hard data to back this up and put an objective measure on where that sweet spot is.
Nintendo in general is actively toxic to intellectual property in video games. They have proven time and time again that they will abuse it whenever possible.

It annoys me more than it should how many software projects straight up don’t bother with patch notes. Have you ever looked at the ones for your phone apps? They usually just copy paste the same meaningless sentence(s) every update. Sometimes they’re straight up ads.
If the release date was a secret, they probably aren’t ready to commit to it, which means it has a good chance of changing.
Pornhub is lowkey a very skilled tech company. Delivering a quality video platform on the scale they do is incredibly difficult.
